Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has confirmed that claims circulating on social media about Canada ending its open work permit program in 2026 are false and not based on any official announcement. Toronto-based licensed paralegal Apol Apuntar described the reports as misleading, emphasizing that immigration policy is governed by laws and regulations, not online speculation, and noted that Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan continues to allocate 170,000 admissions annually from 2026 to 2028 under programs such as the International Mobility Program, which includes open work permits.
